We are excited to once again welcome John Furey as part of the Team MR8 Boston Marathon program for the 2020 season. John has extensive experience coaching marathon charity runners of all levels, and will be a useful asset in terms of training. You can learn more about John and his “Furey 26.2” program below.

Coach, Team MR8
Coach John Furey is one of Boston’s best and most accomplished marathon coaches. Since 1996, he has coached well over 3,000 charity runners of all levels from more than 20 different B.A.A. charity programs to the Boston Marathon finish line. He also serves as the head coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country at Emerson College and has been in his position with the college since 1998 when he lead the women’s team to a conference title in his first year as head coach.
Coach Furey’s knowledge of the sport and years of experience are invaluable resources to those running a marathon for the first time or the tenth time and his bi-weekly workouts bring together runners of all levels from multiple Boston Marathon charity programs. As part of Coach Furey’s program, you will have weekly access to physical therapists from Joint Ventures before and after long runs, as well as a hundreds of training partners from multiple other charity teams.

Group Runs
As a part of Coach Furey’s program Team MR8 will participate in two weekly group runs with runners from over 20 other charity programs running the Boston Marathon.
Wednesday nights starting January 9th, 2019 we will meet at 5:30 at the base of the Boston Common hill for hill repeats.
Saturday mornings starting December 8th, 2018 we will meet at Joint Ventures Physical Therapy in Kenmore Square for long runs along the Boston Marathon course.
